Sponge painting question?

We want to paint our family room a butternut gold color and want to sponge in a few complementing like colors. How many paint colors are needed to get a nice blend sponge painted wall? Our wall is about a 10x15.Sponge painting question?
Always use a base color then a minimum of 2 more colors on top, to save money, just take original base color and separate into 2 containers, then ad a bit of tint, the best is to make the contrasting colors just a few shades darker/lighter [mix lots to make sure you don't run out, if you do, it will be very hard to match the colors again]. remember to tape off the walls not being painted. BTW Sponge painting is out, but you may want to put Venetian plaster on that wall, paint wall, then ad slightly darker tinted paint to stucco mix, trawl on wall, let dry, then rub in darker color in cracks.Sponge painting question?
i would use the base color and 3 other clors. home depot has a very good selection of colors that go togather for spongeing or foeiong.
