How to paint over sponge painting?

It is not flesh with the wall. Its slightly raised. Are there any other options besides sanding? ThanksHow to paint over sponge painting?
If you are looking for a perfectly smooth wall and don't want to sand it you can skim coat it with joint compound and prime and paint. I wouldn't worry about it. Just prime with a good primer and paint the color of your choice. How to paint over sponge painting?
With the right paint. If you go to the hardware store i'm sure there is someone who is able to help. If that fails you can always hammer thin boards on to the wall and paint on that instead.
you could rent a texture sprayer and texture the walls, but I think this is more labor that a light sanding with a drywall screen sander and prime and paint.
Paint a different base coat and re-sponge it or use some other technique.
